- The philodendron Congo Rojo is an attractive warm weather plant that produces showy flowers and interesting leaves. It gets the name “rojo” from its new leaves, which unfurl in a deep, shiny red. As the leaves mature, they fade to a burgundy green color.
- Caring for a philodendron Congo Rojo is very easy, as long as you keep it warm. The plant is very cold sensitive and will suffer serious damage below 40 F. (4 C.). While it can tolerate short periods of extreme heat, it will also have trouble if exposed to temperatures over 100 F. (38 C.) for too long. Its ideal temperatures are between 76 and 86 F. (24-30 C.) during the day and between 65 and 72 F. (18-22 C.) at night.
- As members of the philodendron family, Red Congos prefer bright indirect light, though they can adjust to medium levels of light as well. Keep them out of harsh direct sunlight, as too much of it can burn their leaves.
- Let your Red Congo dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when topsoil is dry, usually once a week. Avoid overwatering, and note that your watering schedule may be less frequent during winter months.
- Native to South America, the Congo Rojo is different from many other philodendrons in that it doesn’t have a climbing or vining habit. Growing instead in a “self-heading” manner, it grows both outward and upward, peaking at about 2 feet (61 cm.) in height and 2 ½ feet (76 cm.) in width. Its flowers are very fragrant and come in shades of red, green, and white.

Fast and no hassle protection of your expensive product purchases
Had an issue with my expensive floor cleaning robot breaking after less than 2 years (i.e. 1 year in to this 3 year extended protection plan). After submitting an online claim, they sent me a 1 page form to fill-out and provided a shipping label to return the large and heavy robot. Within 3 days, they sent me an email saying they couldn't repair it and provided a FULL-REFUND via an Amazon gift card # which successfully credited to my Amazon account.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Bought 3 year warranty for new Dyson vacuum for $76. On day 2 the battery for vacuum would not lock into place. In order to have a functioning vacuum as quickly as possible, I purchased a second battery from Amazon. That resolved the problem, proving the battery was the problem, not the vacuum. I filed a claim with Assurion, which included sending photos, receipts, etc. The claim was still "processing" for a week. I got on a chat with Assurion, and for nearly an hour I tried to explain why it was unnecessary for me to return the whole vacuum. I asked for a supervisor, but they advised me to call because no supervisor was available. I called, and after finally getting through the computer system, I got the same run around. Finally a supervisor came on the line to tell me that this was actually an Amazon or a Dyson problem, and that I would need to return the entire vacuum. Also they would not "reimburse" for the battery I purchased. I never wanted reimbursement, I only wanted a functional battery - which is what I paid for. The supervisor told me I could "contact" Amazon. Everyone knows there is no human to contact at Amazon. You can keep the product, or you can return the product. As previously stated, I do not want to return the vacuum. Finally, the supervisor connected my call to Dyson. They refused to help me because I purchased the vacuum through Amazon. After two wasted hours, I ended up just where I suspected I would...without any help at all. I am going to try to "return" the useless Assurion warranty.
